Mesothelioma is a rare cancer of the lining of the chest, the abdomen or other tissues. Exposure to asbestos is the most common cause of this disease. Mesothelioma can be seen ten years after the first exposure but they peak at three to four decades after the initial exposure. The risks and prognosis is extremely poor with death often occuring with twelve months of the diagnosis no matter what the treatment. Common treatment includes chemotherapy. The most common symptoms of Mesothelioma are difficulty breathing and or chest pain.
